Rugger Ratz Keighley
Rugger Ratz is a family business, started by Rugby League professional, Jode Sheriffe and his wife Joleene, a paramedic and ex Halifax RUFC second rower. “Our eldest son, Tyreese, was our inspiration – we created Rugger Ratz because we wanted to introduce him to the joy of rugby in a safe, controlled and fun environment.“
“Classes have soon become popular, with children now moving through the classes as they grow and learn more skills. We’re introducing new classes and locations to bring our special programme to more children throughout Yorkshire”.
All Rugger Ratz classes run throughout the year, in term-time and holidays.
Cougar Park Stadium
home to Keighley Cougars RLFC,
Royd Ings Avenue,
Age 5 + Duration: 45 mins
This class takes place outdoors for a true rugby experience. We’ll build on existing skills learned during our younger classes as well as teaching new skills such as the correct tackling techniques (non contact) and scrums.
But don’t worry if your child has no rugby experience, we’ll make sure they quickly gain all the skills they need to join in fully and have fun in the process.
Once your child reaches eight years old, we will be happy to provide you with information and contact details for your local League or Union amateur club.
Skills: As above plus safe tackling technique using various angles on the junior rolling bag to learn how not to damage the head and neck; scrum formation; drop kicks, grubber kicks, conversions, TAG rugby, further emphasis on speed, agility and coordination, line passing.
