 Give your child a head start in sport

Rugger Ratz is a fun, energetic introduction to rugby, designed to give your child a head start with the sport skills that are essential for many different sporting activities throughout their lives, and to instil a fun attitude to sport, encouraging a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

Kids all learn to run, catch and kick a ball when they’re young, but when they learn how to do it confidently and with skill it becomes more enjoyable and they feel happy to try new activities.

That’s not all they’ll gain. At the same time, they’ll develop other key life skills such as physical and social confidence, teamwork and independence.

Rugby skills taught by rugby professionals

All classes are taught by rugby professionals including our own Rugby League professional,
Jode Sheriffe
. Through non-contact rugby we teach children aged 2-3; 3-5 and 5+
a full programme of core rugby skills.

They’ll learn how to:

  • run with the ball;
  • kick and catch the ball correctly;
  • side-step an opponent;
  • tackle safely;
  • work independently and as part of a team

Through our classes, they’ll also learn some
fantastic social skills:

  • Rucky_scrumylistening
  • sharing
  • taking turns
  • congratulating each other
  • socialising
  • celebrating
  • learning it’s ok to lose
  • self-confidence

These are vital skills that are key to our classes, and your child will leave each class feeling proud of their achievements. Rewarding our Rugger Ratz is also important, and Jode’s ‘High 5s’ are becoming legendary!

We provide a good rugby background that’s suitable for both union and league; giving them
the basic skills training to prepare them for the time they start to play with an amateur club.

Rugby is for everyone

You may be passionate about rugby or just want to get your kids out and active. You may want to increase your child’s confidence, or let them run off steam with other children. You may just be looking for something different to entertain your children while you look on, or relax for a while.

Our Rugger Ratz have so much fun, they don’t even realise they’re learning! Girls and boys aged 2 through to 8 join us every week for 30-45 minutes of energetic fun and games.
