Do you offer trial sessions?

Yes we do.

We feel it's unfair to expect you to commit to paying by standind order and for membership without 'trying before buying'. You can pay for 3 x trial sessions by cash before committing.

On the third trial session you will be asked to complete a standing order mandate and pay for the first month and membership, should your child wish to continue with Rugger Ratz.

What is the membership fee?

Our one-off membership fee is £25, which includes one of our high quality Rugger Ratz rugby kits (top & shorts) for your child. Please note, there may be a delay in the receipt of the rugby kit, as these are made to order.

If you choose to sign up for 12 months, with payment made in advance, membership is free!

What qualifications do your coaches hold?

All our coaches hold a minimum Level 1 RFL coaching qualification as well as personal experience at semi-professional level within rugby league , they are all enhanced CRB checked and are emergency first aid certified.

What should my child wear?

Your child should wear clothing and footwear that they feel comfortable in. Once membership is confirmed your child will receive their very own Rugger Ratz kit to wear during the sessions.

Will you be adding more classes/times?

Yes, we certainly hope to.

If you are unable to find a convenient class day/time, please inform us. If we have enough requests for the same or similar days/times we will do our best to accommodate and give you first option to book a place for your child.

Do I need to book my child a place on the sessions?

Yes. As places are limited it is very important to book in advance to avoid disappointment (this includes trial sessions).

How do I pay for my child's sessions?

If you have booked 3 x trial sessions, these are all to be paid by cash at the first trial session. Following these you will be asked to complete a standing order form. The first month and the membership fee are to be paid by cash or Q at the same time the standing order form is returned.

If you choose to sign up for 12 months the membership is free (your child will still receive a Rugger Ratz kit).

Can I book Rugger Ratz for my child's party?

Yes you can

Do you offer 1 on 1 coaching?

Yes, we can arrange personal coaching. This can either be used to gain confidence, to enhance existing skills or to start right from the beginning. We offer personal coaching to any age. Prices upon request.

What happens when my child reaches 8 year old and wants to continue rugby training?

Once you child reaches 8, we will be happy to help you choose and contact your local amateur club, whether it be rugby League or Union.

Rugby is a very physical sport involving lots of contact, will your sessions be safe for children as young as 2 years old?

Yes, the sessions are completely safe.

Rugby skills are incorporated into fun and game sessions, at no point during the sessions will any contact or tackling of each other be involved.

Is Rugger Ratz suitable for both boys and girls?

Yes certainly. The sessions are fun and energetic, perfect for both boys and girls.

What we do

Rugger Ratz is a family run business, with an extensive rugby background.

We offer an energetic and exciting experience with lots of fun and games whilst incorporating rugby specific skills. Our aim is to assist in your child's development physically, psychologically and socially whilst having as much fun as possible and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

Whether your child is interested in rugby or just wants to have fun whilst releasing energy with other boys and girls of a similar age, we are for you!

Benefits to your child

Your child will be encouraged to play in teams, teaching important social skills as well as being given the opportunity to play independently building confidence gently.

Using rugby specific skills your child will develop strong hand-eye coordination, balance and agility. We will emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle, involving healthy eating and drinking as well as exercise.

Most important of all, we can guarantee the release of the "feel good hormone" which is released through exercise, contributing to your chid feeling happy and content!

Class Overviews

Ages 2 - 3 year olds

This is our Red class which includes parent participation and lasts for 30 minutes. During this class we will encourage interaction with parents as well as other children to build all important social skills. Our games and play are designed to encourage the development of core and motor skills, whilst having lots of fun. During these sessions we will use foam rugby balls to ensure safety at all times.

Ages 3 - 5 year olds

This is our Amber class which encourages more independence by asking parents to step back
(have a nice quiet cuppa in The Dance Mill lounge) while we spend 45 minutes building your child's existing skills and developing new ones. We switch to a size 2 rugby ball for these sessions giving the children opportunity to get used to a real rugby ball without it being too big or heavy.

We will start to introduce more rugby specific skills during these rugby play sessions, whilst maintaining the emphasise on fun.

Rugger Ratz is a unique and fantastic concept which gives kids the opportunity to have fun whilst learning all about the skills of rugby, a super idea!!

Ages 2-3 year old

For £15 you can come and trial our sessions for 3 weeks [1x session per week]. Following
these, our one-off membership is £25 and includes a fantastic Rugger Ratz rugby kit. The sessions are then £20 per month by standing order. Further information is given regarding payment during the trial period.

Ages 3-5 year old

For £16.50 you can come and trial our sessions for 3 weeks [1x session per week]. Following these, our one-off membership is £25, and includes a fantastic Rugger Ratz rugby kit. The sessions are then £22 per month by standing order. Further information regarding payment is given during the trial period.

Ages 5-7 year old

This class is on a pay-as-you-go basis, and is only £3.50 per session

Ages 5-7 year old

This is our Green class which takes place outdoors for a true rugby experience.

This class lasts an hour and will build upon existing skills learnt during our younger classes as well as teach new skills such as the correct tackling techniques (non contact), scrums etc..

But don't worry, if your child has no rugby experience, this class will still be suitable.

Once your child reaches 8 years old, we will be happy to provide you with information and contact details for your local amateur club, whether you prefer League or Union.
